Objective >
Develop a rationale for interpreting and expressing a music piece through typography, imagery, and layout. Gather ideas, emotions, and visuals that would be associated with the chosen song. Then project the visuals onto various surfaces to create an analog and multi-dimensional design solution without initial use of software.
Approach >
I chose Madonna’s song, Frozen, from 1998. The song is about getting through to a cold lover. I experimented with different typefaces and visuals to represent the tribal feel of the video, combined with something lush and romantic. After shooting different experimental type on transparent vinyl paper, I collected the imagery projected on a screen. Then, I developed, refined, and finalized a layout for the final poster.
